How many New Hampshire towns do you know of that have a 50-foot-high Memorial Arch made of Concord granite? Tilton does. It was donated by Charles Tilton, whose ancestors were some of the town’s wealthiest citizens and helped put Tilton on the map.

Another thing Tilton has is plenty of water. The town itself is only 12 square miles, of which only .08 square miles is water. But Tilton is drained by the Winnipesaukee River, and is bordered by Winnisquam Lake and Silver Lake. And what do we know about lakes and moisture? The pests love it.
