Question I manage an apartment property in a Boston suburb. We recently added a brand new building to the complex and we just discovered that the building has rats inside! We think there are at least six rats. We’ve never had rats in any of the other buildings and haven’t even seen any on the
VIEW MOREWhen it comes to controlling rats, those of us in the pest control industry know that we have our work cut out for us. Brown (Norway) rats have senses that are more highly developed than ours which occasionally allows them to outwit our pest control efforts. A brown rat’s senses of smell, vision, kinesthetic sense,

Much to my horror, two of our office workers have reported seeing rats, one in the compactor room and one in the break room upstairs. Our pest control contractor will be treating for rats but I need to know where and how they got
VIEW MOREQ. In the last two weeks, we have seen two rats in the legal offices where I work! The rumor is that they’ve been seen elsewhere in the building, too. This is a ten-story office building that is not in the best part of town, but I can’t believe we have rats inside. How do we even begin to get rid of them?
VIEW MOREQ. We saw what I think was a rat around our garbage cans outside. My wife is totally freaked out that we might have rats. Q. My son and his family just moved into a brand new condo in a high rise building and the building has rats! Fortunately not in their condo, but my son saw a rat in the trash room and one of their neighbors actually did have one inside their condo. The manager says it’s the builder’s fault. He says that rats were actually built into the building during construction. Is that possible?

Q. Can you catch a rat in a regular old wooden snap trap? I think I have a rat burrowing outside around the side of my garage where I keep my garbage cans. There’s a large hole under a shrub there that seems to be bigger than a mouse hole. I caught a glimpse of him once and I think it’s a rat. Gross! If I put some cheese or something on a trap, do you think I could catch him? I really don’t want to use poison.
VIEW MOREQ. I read a local news story that says we apparently have rats living in our sewer system and that they can get into homes by following pipes! Yikes! Please tell me that isn’t true!
